The APO Family of Serial Number Documents is comprised of all documents that pertain to a specific individual in the Department of Defense Automated Family Lookup System (AFLS-DOD), APO card number, and any documentation from which the APO card number was derived. AAD and AFLS comprise one part of the AFMC/APO Data Enclave (APODAE), a national network of archives responsible for identifying and documenting the histories of Over 200 million military and civilian families.
c) Returning Service Members: AAD will provide online access to Army records to help Army promotions officials ensure the timely release of long-overdue information that will help credit and discharge promotions actions.
FindOne is intended to enable quick, convenient searches of AAD, AFMC, or CDC records for individuals known to have died. While it is possible to search the AAFGRI and AFMWER (WAAC, WAC, WAF, WAC, WRA) records central file for a given individual, the end result would represent a search on all related cards and NARA's automated search programs would search for these cards, resulting in a large amount of duplication. The purpose of FindOne is to search a single collection containing records for a given individual (AFMC, AFMC, or otherwise) and list records that match.
FindOne does not search within the NARA’s National Archives Microfilm Publication Tapes. Further, it does not search embossed name and serial number cards located at the National Archives at College Park.
FindOne is not intended to be used by others. National Archives staff will remain the sole arbiter of what records may be returned to individuals and which records should be returned to the archival institution that originally created them. d2c66b5586
